In the beginning Les Canebières was a residential caravan park. The first lots dated from 1967. During the years more lots have been created and we now have 771 lots completely equipped.

    Since it was repurchased in 1980 the Domaine functions as a 'Societe Civile Immobiliere d'Attribution' in which each member has part sociale which gives him the right to possession of a lot. On this lot the societaire puts a living unit, freely chosen subject to the rules in force, after obtaining a 'Permit de Construire'. To stay at Canebières it is necessary to buy lot (a part sociale) and become a societaire, or to have relations or friends who will lend you theirs, in which case you become an 'invitie'. You the stay in a mobile home or other dwelling placed there by the owner.

The residents come from all over Europe. The strongest contingent is the British. there are also Belgians, Dutch and Germans but the French are in the majority. On 771 lots they count more than 500.

    60% of our societaires are the 'anciens who have lived through the 1980 epoch  . They arrived here as caravanners and have stayed. They have become more and more comfortable: from caravan to mobile home, to chalet.

    There are also guests who come for a holiday, have found it to their taste and ask if there is anything for sale.

    At the beginning a big campaign was launched throughout Europe to bring the Domaine to public notice but this is not now necessary. At this time the seller himself searches for a buyer, and vice-versa.
